In maths we had to learn about lines of symmetry then we had get a ruler and  shapes and make something with them  then see  how many lines of symmetry there is this is mine and my groups.

Stick insects

Stick insects



Have you ever seen a stick with legs? It's called a stick insect or you might know them as a phasmid or ro.  


What are stick insects:
They have a long body a small head six big legs and feelers the 4 main parts of a stick insect is the head antennae thorax  and abdomen they camouflage there self to look like trees,plants,bushes and leaves .

What are stick insects habitat:
They live on bushes and trees and some even live just on grassland.


What do stick insects eat:
They eat plants and some times eat berries and fruit.


What are stick insects predators:
Wasps,bees,birds,small reptiles and rodents.


What types of stick insects are there in New Zealand:
In New Zealand there are many different types of stick insects but the main ones are smooth like a leaf rough like a branch and spiky like prickly bushes.


Why i like stick insects:
Even though stick insects are weird they are cool insects my favorite thing about them is how they can camouflage themself from predators to stay safe.

Have you ever seen a leaf with legs? It's called a Phyllidae or you might know them as
Leaf insects.

A leaf insect is a insect that looks like a leaf they camouflage themself to look like leaves They can be Brown,Green And yellow and they are normally big insects, the main parts of a leaf insect is the head,thorax and abdomen.

Leaf insects measure roughly 28 to 100 mm 1.1 to 3.9 inches in body length.

Leaf insects eat eucalyptus leaves but were raised on rose and raspberry leaves and they acasilliny drink when there's water drops on leaves.

Leaf insects cannot bite, sting, or otherwise harm you but female spiny leaf insects have spines on their undersides and legs that they may brush against you if they are handled roughly.

Female leaf insects can lay eggs without a male they can also lay thousands of eggs thru their lifetime females can live up to 18 months well males can only live up to 6 to 8
Months.

They live on bushes,trees and flatground

Even though leaf insects are weird they are cool insects my favourite thing about them is how they can camouflage themselves from predators to stay safe.
