For a couple of weeks we have been learning about the government systems in films. One interesting thing that I learnt while doing this was learning about the four governments and what they are and what they mean. One thing I want to know about the WCKD government is how does no one know about them.

100 word challenge

This morning when I woke up I got a massive surprise, there was a gigantic Bubble floating on my front lawn. I went up to it to investigate when out of nowhere it sucked me in and It said “If you could go anywhere, where would it be?” In a quick flash I said my dream location, The moon. Within a second I was on the moon Jumping around and enjoying the view of the earth. Then My vision was gone and everything was black I woke up the next morning confused and wondering what just happened.

Steroids in Sports.

In Health we were set a task that required us to research facts about the topic that we choose to research Our set success criteria that we chose was pro. The topic that I chose was steroids in sports. Steroids in sports and the sport we chose to focus on was the ufc. Firstly we had to Research what steroids were and why they are harmful towards athletes or just to any human. Once we had our 5 BIG questions we started to write all the answers down as we researched the answers. We chose to make/create a DLO, we chose to do this so we could show others how bad steroids affect your Hauora. We have learned that these strategies are helpful to use if. It was challenging when we had to create a DLO because we weren't sure what information to add to our poster. I coped with the challenge by working with my buddy and sharing my ideas with my buddy. I worked well with my buddy because we managed to get our topic finished.

Next time I will have to do two topics between two classes not just one in between two classes. I am really proud o# me and my buddy because we're happy with our work and we've managed to finish our first topic successfully.

This morning I woke up to fresh snow, as I was walking to my car to go to my job I realised something weird. There were adult size footprints on the hood of my car and my lawn. I was so confused about who was walking on my property and my car and why . I went to work but when I got back home I checked the security cameras I have outside of my house. When I got the video I started to watch I realised something was wrong when I kept on seeing footprints appear but no sign of a human.

Leadership

Leadership is the ability of an individual, group or organisation to lead, influence or guide other individuals, teams, or a entire organisations.  In my opinion a Leader should be able to show Resilience, Honesty and Integrity, Commitment and Passion, Respect and they should be able to help and inspire others.  I think that the type of Leadership I show is Participative -

"Participative leadership is a style of leadership in which all members of the organisation work together to make decisions. But the final decision is up to the leader"

Times going by and Geri-1  is losing by alot and the game is getting more and more tense

Geri-1 Fakes a heart attack and when he stands up he quickly spins the board.

Geri-1 - Hahahha

Geri-2 - What the?

Geri-1 makes the king fall over so he ended up winning.

This week during science we have been learning about evaporation.Evaporation is when a liquid is turned into a gas.

Aim:The aim is to Evaporate copper sulfate(Blue Liquid) and to separate the liquid

Equipment:
-Glasses
-Copper sulfate solution
-250m Beaker
-Heat proof mat
-Evaporating basin
-Element

Method:Set up element,Add 100ml of hot water to the beaker and place on the element, the add copper sulfate to the evaporating basin until it is quarter full,Then carefully place the evaporating basin on top of the beaker,
next we turned the element up to 6 then we heated the solution until most of the solvent has been evaporated and crystals of solute are forming. Then finally turn off the element.

What was life like in the middle ages?

What was life like in the middle ages?

Interestingly, Life was different for the rich and the poor. The Rich people like the king and queen who lived in castles, ate a lot of food, were clean and healthy and showered everyday. The poor lived on little farms, They lived in small dirty houses , Didn't have enough food for the whole day and hardly showered. This was important because it tells us about how hard it was for the poor and how life sucked if you were poor and also on the other hand if you were rich how good and easy life was.

Distillation experiments

Introduction: Today we did an experiment on Distillation, Evaporation, and Condensation, and it was also a really good day...

Aim: To separate a solute from a solvent in a solution using distillation.

Equipment: Solution Of Coke, Conical Flask, Heat Proof Mat, Delivery tube, Bunsen burner, Tripod, Gauze Mat, Bosshead & Clamp, Boiling tube, Retort stand.

Method:
1. A mixture of coke and water was heated in a conical flask…
2. The water evaporates leaving the coke behind…
3. The water vapour flows through the delivery tube…
4. Heat the solution until most of the solvent has been evaporated. Turn off your element……………………..

Results: We saw that the coke started to bubble because of the heat of the element, then at the end of the experiment there was syrup at the bottom.

Discussion: In conclusion of what in the photos, some of the photos have just a layer of coke on the bottom it looks like that because the liquid was separated from to coke mixture by being boiled and heated.

The normal coke mixture had a thicker layer of sugar than the other one this is because the normal coke mixture that the coke zero mixture.

Distillation: The  coke started boiling because it was being heated by the element then the liquid turned  into gas and then it entered the delivery tube next the gas the gas turned into a solvent because it was sitting in a beaker full of ice and then the solute was left in to bottom of the flask

3d printer Design Process

What is a Design Process -

The design process is a common series of steps that engineers/creators use in creating functional products and processes. The Design Process is also an approach for breaking down a large project into manageable chunks.

What are the steps to a design process -

Define the Problem, You can't find a solution until you have a clear idea of what the problem is.
  1. Collect Information,  Collect sketches, take photographs and gather data to start giving you inspiration.
  2. Brainstorm and Analyse Ideas.
  3. Develop Solutions.
  4. Create a prototype or a model.
  5. Gather Feedback.
  6. Improve.

Why are Design Processes important?

A design process is pretty easy to follow but I in my opinion  if u  use a design process it makes a huge difference in making sure that the final product is of the highest quality.

3D printed Dog Tag.

for the last week we have been design and creating a Dog tag on Tinker cad. I am writing this blog to show you some of the steps that I have done so far.
1. Drag out a square, click on it and put the measurements to how big you want you tag to be.
2.  Drag the cylinder out on to the tag and and get it to the right measurements.
3. Equipt them together and then you Dog tag will be done.

Here are some extra photos of the tips -

The present -

How would you describe the boy at the start of the video?
When he opened his present up he was really happy but as soon as he looked closer at the dog
he released that the dog was missing his leg.

What did he think of his present? How do you know? Why did he feel that way?
I think at the start of the video he was happy when he first saw that the present was a dog but as soon as he saw the dog only had one leg he just dumped him to the side. I can tell that that's how he felt by looking at his body language and his face expressions.

What lesson did the boy learn by the end of the film?
He learned to be grateful and to care for for overs no matter how different they are.

Why is it important to be grateful for what we have?

Its important to be grateful because some people in the world don't have what we have.

Creative manufacturing.

In Metal work we have been creating Name/Dog tag,

Steps:
Get a strip of Aluminium, Then mark the metal where you want to cut it but we had to make sure that we cut it a little more than 45mm because we are going to file it down to 45mm, once you have finished cutting, try to get it as close to 45 mm as you can and try to make the sides as straight as you can once you have done that mark a line through the middle of the piece of the metal one you then drill a hole on your mark. After that we used a buffing tool that polished and made our work shiny and the final step was to imprint something into our work.

Equipment:
  • File
  • Engineers blue
  • Engineers square
  • Buffer
  • Hacksaw
  • Hole punch
  • Hammer.
  • Odd leg caliper.
  • Campos.
  • ruler.
  • soft jaws
  • Drill

This is my piece of work that I have created.

Filtration experiment.

Today in science we are going to be doing are first experiment of the term which is going to be a  filtration experiment.

Aim: To Separate a solution from a precipitate (precipitate is the name for a solid that forms in a liquid during a chemical reaction).
Hypothesis -
I thought that that the filter make will make the mixture clear
Method:
1. Pour approximately 50mL of copper sulfate solution into a beaker.
2. Add the same volume of sodium carbonate solution. A reaction will happen, you should see a cloudy blue precipitate form. Called copper carbonate.
3. Watch demo then fold filter paper to fit inside the funnel
4. Place the funnel with the filter paper inside of it, into the mouth of a conical flask.
5. Stir the mixture in the beaker, then carefully pour it into the funnel.

6. Observe what happened -
When the mixture on the top started dripping to the bottom the colour was clear.

Equipment:
1. Copper sulfate
2. Conical flask
3. stirring rod
4. 200mL Beaker
5. Funnel
6. Filter paper
