Today we have been reading a book called stitches we had to read it so we can answer these questions.

What is the story about?
A girl called May who is 13 loves to sew she also has a family of seven who also likes to sew, she has two brothers a sister a baby sister her mum and dad  and of course her. May gets a new sewing machine to help around the house with sewing she quits school to focus on sewing and to work with her mum to make cloths to sell.

May is 13, how is your life different compared to hers?
Mays life is different then mine because she is a girl who lives in a family of seven, she has a sister a baby sister and two brothers and she also loves to sew. She also quit school to work on sewing with her mum I am a boy who is 12 and I have a family of four instead of a family of seven and I only have a brother.                                                                                                       


What sacrifices do you think she made in the story? and why did she make those?
quitting school to focus on sewing and working with her mum to make money from sewing.

3G 4G

This week all of the year 7’s and 8’s went on a trip, We were heading into riccarton to go to the Fo Guang Shan Buddhist  temple for an event that happens every year “3G 4G’ “3G 4G” is a festival that celebrates buddhist religion. Every year we go there and learn what it is and how to show it. One of the thirst things we learnt there was what  3G and 4G mean. 3G means to, do good deeds, say good words, and think good thoughts 4G means to give joy, give hope, give convenience and confidence then we went upstairs and went into their library It was a pretty small library but it had a lot of big books some of the books had meanings but I couldn't tell what they meant because all of the books were written in Chinese. Another activity we done was “bathing the buddha” we got in four lines waiting to be next what we had to do was there was a buddha sitting in water we had to get some of the water and tip it over his shoulder and say do good deeds then we got another cup of water and poured it over his head and say think good thoughts te we got one more cup of water and poured it over the shoulder again and then we had to wish something because in buddhist religion if you bath the buddha you can wish for something and it would come true. We also did some other activities like making lotus flowers, meditation and a lot more but overall it was a really fun to learn about the buddhist religion and just to be with friends.

KI O RAHI

Today we had to make a DLO about ki o rahi we had to make a clear informational poster about the rules of ki o rahi and how to play this is my poster that I made to explain what u need to do in ki o rahi and what the rules are.  information at bottom as well:

This is how you play KI O RAHI:

A large team game played between 2 teams, kioma and taniwha on a large area or even a small size area. Ki o rahi is played in two halfs or sometimes 4 quarters of a set time. Teams alternate roles of Kīoma and Taniwha at half time or quarter time.

Kīoma score by touching polls with the ball (for potential points) then running the ball through the middle of the coins and placing the ball down Kioma also trys to stop the other team from scoring when the other team has the ball.

Taniwha score by hitting the barrel in the middle with the ball. Kioma will have guardians(kaitiaki) around the barrel in the middle to stop Taniwha from hitting the barrel. Depending on which variation of the game you are playing there are different ways from not letting the other score by either touching them with 2 hands so pretty much 2 hand touch and the other ways are, ripping there tag of them.

Music through the decades

Through out this week during hurumanu music me and my partner Tamani were making a D.L.O about music starting at 2010 going down to the 19 hundreds we started at 2010 and went down the list each slide had a different decade of music on the we had to explain who the most popular singers where at that time what genres were popular at that time the most popular song and who it was by. But unfortunately me and my partner Tamanai didn't finish but we still worked to to try and finish it but we ran out of time but any way this is what we made I hope you like it.

Pink Shirt Day

Today in CIP we have been learning about Pink shirt Day we learnt what it is and what it means.

Pink shirt day means to wear a pink piece of clothing to help and support kids around the world that are getting bullied.

How did the Pink shirt boys show that they were good friends?

They stuck up for a kid that was getting bullied and had no body helping him so they decided to ban together to make a difference in that kids life when nobody else would.
